ISOCL 2026–27

Help & frequently asked questions

Is entry free?

Yes. Participation in the 2026–27 season is free.

Who is eligible?

Currently enrolled students at international and bilingual schools in Year 1–12 / Kindergarten–Grade 11.

How many players can a team enter?

There is no limit. Each school/campus has one team. A team with fewer than four players may still participate; the top four scores count when four or more players compete.

Can I join after the season starts?

Yes. New schools and players can join during the season. To play in the finals, a student must have played in at least one qualifier.

Do I need a new Lichess account?

Use the ISOCL account instructions provided by SCA after registration. Do not register a second account just because the season has changed; contact SCA if you cannot access your assigned account.

What happens if my internet disconnects?

Reconnect as soon as possible. Your clock continues to run, and the game may be lost. If the event is still running, return to its lobby to continue playing. There is no guaranteed reconnection grace period.

Can I take a break or join late?

Arena events allow late joining and pausing between games. Return to the tournament lobby to resume. Do not abandon a game in progress.

Do I have to join a video meeting?

Webcams are not required in qualifiers. A 30-minute Tencent technical meeting is planned for qualifier support; joining details will be shared. Cameras are required for the Final Six.

Where can I find scoring and tie-breaks?

Read the format and rules. The current time control is 7 minutes plus 5 seconds per move; there are no Berserk or Arena streak bonuses.
