The Autumn Season of the 2023 International Schools Online Chess League (ISOCL) kicked off on 19 October with its inaugural qualifying tournament. It was a remarkable start. Despite being only the first qualifier, the event has already broken records by attracting an impressive total of 301 participants from 43 schools. Notably, this tournament includes participants from international academic institutions in the Philippines and Hong Kong, as well as various cities across China.
Newcomer International School Manila came out on top as the champion with an impressive 91 points. Perennial winner Wellington College International Shanghai and Singapore International Hong Kong both had identical 80 points but the former had better tiebreak scores to grab 2nd place honors.

The score of the top 4 players on each school are added up to a total team score in each Qualifier. The total team score from each Qualifier adds up to determine which school teams qualify for the Final Six and the Challenger’s Final.
The second qualifier tournament will be held on 23 November. New school teams and new students are welcome to join. Good luck!
