On a rainy Saturday, the 24th of June, SCA held its traditional Dragon Boat Festival Tournament at Yew Chung International School of Shanghai Puxi Campus. It would be the sixth time we have organized. We are happy to go back to the standard over the board format. For two years, it was played online (2021, 2022).
A total of 110 young players participated in the much awaited in person event. It proved to be exciting. It had everything the spectators could wish for. We witnessed many fierce matches. There were instances when players offered draws but the truce offers were flatly rejected. Good sportsmanship was always observed. Everyone shook hands, saying ‘good luck’, ‘good game’ before and after each game. Many were also seen diligently recording their games for analyses.

Ziheng Yu played like a fiery dragon to rule the U10 division with a perfect score of 7 points. Three players were tied for 6 points. Wei Jiang and Juxi Meng had higher tiebreak scores to emerge as second place and third place respectively.

Under 16 Results
Rico Wu and Sirius Lettree-Delpech both finished with 6 points but Rico Wu had a higher tiebreak score to emerge as the champion in the U16 division. Five players had identical 5 points but Yuxuan Huang won in the tiebreak to snatch third place honors.
Notable is the fine performance of 8 year old Raphael Corcolle who opted to play in the U16 division. He finished with 4 points.
